thumbnail Lawrence James Haddad (born 17 June 1959), is a British economist whose main research interests are the intersection of poverty, food insecurity and malnutrition, including poverty dynamics, social capital, HIV/AIDS, social protection, agriculture and poverty, and women's empowerment.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.wise-qatar.org/lawrence-haddad )〕 He is a Senior Research Fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and a Research Professor at the University of Sussex. == Education and career == From 2004-2014 (Lawrence Haddad ) was the director of the Institute of Development Studies (IDS). He was also the UK’s representative on the Steering Committee of the High Level Panel of Experts (HLPE) of the UN's Committee on World Food Security (CSF) which was established in 2009 with the aim of making the CSF more effective in research analysis.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.fao.org/cfs/cfs-hlpe/about-the-hlpe/en/ )〕 He was also the President of the UK and Ireland's Development Studies Association, 2010-2012. He completed his PhD in food research from Stanford University in 1988.
